What's Happening at First Church:

Obermmergau Passion Play 2010. Tim Ahlemeyer and Kay Collins are leading a group of travelers to the Obermmergau Passion Play in 2010. This community performs the play once every ten years to fulfill a commitment to Christ to whom they prayed when the black plague hit their town in the 1500's. The trip includes Innsbruck, Salzburg, Italy, Neuschwanstein Castle and more. We have not yet picked the exact dates but are thinking August 3. Please call Kay at 583.3115 or email her at lkcollins@hotmail.com or see her on Sunday in church if you are interested in going.
Exhibit coming to Evansville.  My Father's Love is more than a display of artistic ability. It's a story that combines art, math and a miraculous process. This once in a lifetime experience is coming to Evansville's Washington Square Mall from October 16 through Christmas. A story that must been seen, My Father's Love is a story of how God gives us gifts and talents and how those talents are used to bring Him glory.

Put our Vacation Bible School on July 27th-31st on your calendars!  We’re hosting SonRock Kid’s Camp “Where Kids Build Their Lives on the Rock—Jesus”.  Sign up forms and volunteer forms are available under the youth bulletin board.

Mountain Mission Truck.  The Mountain Mission truck will be here on July 29.  Please check the entry bulletin board for a list of “desperate” needs!  Also please consider a small donation for fuel.

Book Discussion on The Shack.  Pastor Beth Ann will lead a discussion on the highly controversial book The Shack by William Young.  Whether you agree or disagree with Young, his book is a great discussion starter for big theological issues like: why God allows suffering, grace, salvation, forgiveness, and the Trinity.  Is The Shack on your summer reading list?

Scouts/Venturers.  The National Association of United Methodist Scouters is sponsoring a Philmont Ranch Trek in July of 2010.  Up to 20 boys and girls will have the opportunity to spend 12 days backpacking. To apply youth must be between 14 and 21 and active in Scouts or Venturers.  The trek cost will be $950.  See Amy Voris for a copy of the application. You can contact Rev. Arthur Collins of Ellettsville UMC at 812-876-4792 or artcoll@gmail.com for additional information.
